UPSC IES Pre 2019 Expert Exam Analysis

The Question Paper was lengthy and tricky. Previous years question paper was easy as compared to this year. The current affairs questions were very less. Paper 2 contained with more mathematical questions which were tough.

Paper 2 questions from mechanical section were conceptually easy. But, the calculation was time consuming and tough. That’s why paper was tough to score more marks. Many questions were calculative. Questions were asked majorly from ethics, ICT, robotics and mechatronics in the First Paper. In Science secttion applied questions were asked.

General Science Section, Environment related questions were asked. The Questions were moderate to difficult level. The IES Pre 2019 were tougher than previous years.

Therefore, on the basis of difficulty level of paper, we can say that cut off may be around 70% for general category.

In order to fill engineering positions in different central govt departments. UPSC conducted IES Exam at various centers across the country. The exam was carried out to fill approx 581 vacant positions in the categories of civil, mechanical , electrical and electronics & telecommunications engineering.
