SSC CHSL (10+2) Exam Syllabus
Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC)/Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Postal Assistant (PA)/Sorting Assistant (SA) and Data Entry Operator (DEO) positions were examined by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) at Combined Higher Secondary Level (10 + 2). Details of the Exam Syllabus are provided below.
This section would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. The test will include questions on Symbolic operations, Semantic Analogy. Semantic Classification, Symbolic/Number Analogy, Figural Analogy. Trends, Space Orientation, Symbolic/Number Classification. Venn Diagrams, Drawing inferences, Punched hole/pattern-folding & unfolding. Figural Classification, Semantic Series, Number Series, Figural Pattern – folding and completion. Embedded figures,Critical Thinking, Figural Series, Problem Solving. Word Building, Emotional Intelligence, Social Intelligence. Other sub-topics, Coding and de-coding, if any Numerical operations.
Fill in the Blanks, Spot the Error, Antonyms, Synonyms/Homonyms. Spellings/ Detecting Mis-spelt words, One word substitution. Idioms & Phrases, Improvement of Sentences, Conversion into Direct/Indirect narration. Active/ Passive Voice of Verbs, Shuffling of Sentences in a passage. Shuffling of Sentence parts, Comprehension Passage, Cloze Passage.
ALGEBRA : Graphs of Linear Equations, Elementary surds (simple problems) and Basic algebraic identities of School Algebra.
MENSURATION : Quadrilaterals, Triangle, Circle, Right Circular Cone, Right Prism. Regular Polygons, Right Circular Cylinder, Sphere, Hemispheres. Regular Right Pyramid with triangular or square Base, Rectangular Parallelepiped.
Fundamental Arithmetical Operations : Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Averages, Square roots, Profit and Loss. Interest (Simple and Compound),Discount, Mixture and Allegation. Partnership Business, Time and work, Time and distance.
Number Systems : Decimal and Fractions, Computation of Whole Number, Relationship between numbers.
GEOMETRY : Familiarity with elementary geometric facts and figures.
Circle and its chords, angles subtended by chords of a circle. tangents, tangents to two or more circles. Triangle and its various kinds of centres, Congruence and similarity of triangles.
TRIGONOMETRY : Trigonometry, Trigonometric ratios, Standard Identities. Complementary angles, Height and distances (simple problems only).
STATISTICAL CHARTS : Use of Tables and Graphs – Frequency polygon, Histogram, Pie-chart, Bar-diagram.
Questions are designed to test the candidate’s general awareness of and application to society of the environment around him. Questions are also intended to test knowledge of current events and issues of day-to-day observation and experience as expected of an educated person in their scientific aspect. The test will also include questions related to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Policy and Scientific Research in India and its neighboring countries.
There will be no component of Maps/Graphs/Diagrams/Statistical Data in the General Intelligence & Reasoning/Quantitative Aptitude for VH candidates of 40% above visual disability and opting for SCRIBES.
